A.Dishwashing Detergents

Machine dishwashing detergents

Kemphos 2001 is being used in machine dishwashing detergents for home and for industrial and institutional (I&I) purposes.

The Chlorine contributes to the overall cleaning power of the detergent by oxidizing proteinaceous soil. The phosphate contributes towards shiny dishes and reduces spotting on glassware. Phosphates also control water hardness and enhance detergency.

Most dishwashing detergents also contain silicates which provide alkalinity, soil suspension, prevent metal corrosion and filming of glassware.Surfactants provide detergency and control foaming. Fillers such as Sodium Sulphate and Sodium Carbonate balance the formulation. Sodium Carbonate is generally used when additional alkalinity is required.

Household machine dishwashing detergents usually operate at lower pH and Chlorine levels than the I&I products. The level of available Chlorine in wash solutions is in the range of 15 to 20 ppm. The pH level of the solution should be above 10 to maintain adequate detergency, but less than 11 to guard against a highly caustic product.

Mixing is generally accomplished in a ribbon or tumbler. The order if mixing components be such that the nonionic surfactant is absorbed into the alkaline chemicals. Kemphos 2001 should be added last.

B.Cleaners , Cleaners & Sanitizers

General Purpose Cleaners

Alkaline heavy – duty cleaners are used for manual cleaning of open equipment. Basic formulation:

Cleaners and sanitizers

Cleaners and sanitizers find useful applications in the food processing industry which includes dairies, breweries, meat packaging and soft drink manufacturers.

These products are also widely used in restaurants and cafeterias to wash equipment and surfaces used for food preparation and food service. Hospitals, hotels, motels are large users of cleaning products. The available Chlorine is effective against colour and stains and aids in the removal of proteinaceous soil.

Cleaners and Sanitizers based on Kemphos 2001 also contain Phosphates which are excellent builders suitable for most cleaning products. Trisodium Phosphate is used for alkalinity and buffering action, precipitate builder.

C. Scouring Powders

Kemphos 2001 is used as a raw material in scouring powders which require both high buffered alkalinity and a stable active Chlorine. Oil film, food and stains are oxidized by Chlorine to soluble components, which can be rinsed off with water. The anionic surfactants contribute to detergency by wetting and foam suspending action. Silica or another abrasive ingredient provides the scouring action.
